December joys
What's yours?
This is what I was feeling when I suddenly realised it is December, already… Where did this year go? It feels like it was only weeks ago that I was spending a winter on the island of Paxos…
But here we are, winter again!
And even though I do not do very well with the wintery weather and have no real connection to Christmas, I love december for all kinds of reasons.
First there is the option to slow down, to stay in, to be at home and light candles. Sit with a book, take time to rest and reflect on the last 12 months.
Then there is the peace and quiet on the island. It is so nice to just drive around and enjoy the beauty of nature here, without all the heavy traffic of summer.
It also feels like a month in which I am ready to create new things for the next year and truly give myself time to do this. The space here on Substack will be a whole new experience in 2025!
And last but not least, I look forward to the winter solstice and the start of the Rough Nights. If you have never heard of this, please keep your eyes open, next week I will write more about it!
