hi, I am Irene and I write about what it means to live according to your visions and desires. At the moment I am on a pelgrimage in England to help a friend and write a new book. In this message more about my first days in England and how you can support this trip and the mission I have.
Last week I started my journey to the land of Avalon. And as always the journey is so much more than just a trip. When I was asked to support a friend during her personal healing journey, I decided to drop everything and go.
Because it all went so fast, my arrival in England felt intense. My body (and especially my face) had all kinds of aches and pains and I felt an intense longing to go home. As I know this feeling (I’ve had it many times before), I knew I had to breathe through it. Knowing it would be better in a couple of days.
Portchester walks
And so I did, the first days I stayed in Portchester, a small town close to Portsmouth where a part of my book is situated. To get to know the place, I did a lot of walking and visited places that occur in my book. I also realised that parts that I describe in the book do not exist, but I’m fine with that. That’s the beauty of writing a novel, you can just create things that aren’t there (yet). Because I felt completely off track the first day, I was happy that the walking really helped to find my ground and land on the English soil.
On the second day of my trip I felt better, the sun was shining (which lifted my mood immediately) and I decided to bring a visit to Titchfield Abbey. An old abbey that you can visit. I had seen the pictures and I was surprised how small it was compared to the feeling I got from the pictures online. But it was quiet and I felt really good there. The weather was nice and I felt uplifted with new energy. So I stayed there a while and treated myself to a nice lunch before I headed back to the place I was staying.
An English train ride
On Saturday I went to Bath by train, which was another experience. I booked the train and had a vision that I would be seated and had an hour and a half to write. But as I boarded the very short train (with only two carriages) I immediately knew that this would not happen. Too many people, with a lot of luggage and not much space to sit or stand.
Luckily I am very well trained to stay calm and in my own zone these days. I am not bothered by my surroundings anymore. I see it as it is and stay in my own bubble. So while a lot of people were complaining, I stayed calm and read my book.
In Bath it was a joy to see my friend in person again, as we hadn’t seen each other for two years. I am happy to be here to support her on her journey. In the meanwhile we are planning our trip to Avalon, Glastonbury and beyond.
And that is where you can help!
We are travelling in the spirit of the book I’m writing with the title: Sara Speaks. In this book the two main characters are on a pelgrimage through France and England. They travel without money to experience the generosity of the people they meet. So they walk, they hitchhike and they sleep and eat at places because people invite them during their trip.
And in the spirit of the book I am asking you for your help. From the 22nd of August we will be traveling to Avebury, Stonehenge, Glastonbury and Cornwall and we are looking for places to sleep and eat and people to meet. So if you happen to know people in this area that have space to host us, we are very happy to hear from you. Transportation is also helpful, because of my friends physical situation, we can only travel by car.
